Foaled in 1974, Kayruss Poppie, came to us in 1988 from Shannon Haley. Poppie’s registration papers had been lost in a legal tangle for 11 years. Shannon, through detective work and perseverance, was able to locate the former owner, in France, and obtain a duplicate registration. At age 13, Poppie (with her newly acquired papers!) went to her first Welsh show...she was pinned Grand Champion Mare! |
She had her first registered foal at age 14. In all she would have 9 foals: 7 colts and 2 fillies, the last at age 22. Over the years Shannon had always kept in touch, often coming to visit "her" Poppie. In 1997 Shannon had a toddler son who needed a pony. Poppie spent the final year of herlife co-owned by Pat and Shannon, giving rides to young Kellen and living a happy retirement.
She died in 1998 and has been greatly missed. We continue to see her in her beautiful daughters and grand-daughters who grace our fields.
